Alison Homestead Museum

The Alison Homestead Museum is located at 51 Cape Rd Wyong. The easiest way to reach the museum is to turn off the Pacific Highway at Wyong onto Alison Road and follow this until you reach Cape Rd. Look for an old fire engine parked on the lawn.

Alison Homestead was gifted to Charles Alison by his father William circa 1875 and as such is the oldest home in the Wyong township. It was extended by Charles upon his marriage to the grand daughter of the famed explorer William Cox and passed out of the Alison family in the 1890's to a number different owners until purchased and operated as a market garden by the Pearce Family for nearly 60 years. It became a museum in 1991.

The museum is situated amongst 2 hectares of lawn and the house and outbuildings are in reasonably good condition. There is also an old well and several other outdoor exhibits including farm implements from the earlier pioneering years. The tour through the seven rooms of the homestead provides an interesting glimpse into the past being decorated in the style of the late 19th century. Inside the museum there are many curios and artefacts from bygone era's to admire and enjoy. The museum also reputedly has a very comprehensive collection of research material from 1825 to date.

The museum's rolling lawns and gardens provide an idyllic place to relax and enjoy a picnic. Barbecue facilities are also provided.
