Terrigal

Terrigal is located about 85km from Sydney and would have to be one of Australias most beautifull seaside towns. The area abounds with opportunities for surfing, swimming, boating, waterskiing, scuba diving and fishing. The Terrigal CBD has a very relaxed metropolitan flavour with its coffee houses and restaurants, many with outdoor seating so that visitors may enjoy Terrigal's unique atmosphere. Just metres away Terrigal Beach stretches for almost 4km of clean sand perfect for swimming and surfing. Terrigal Haven, scarcely 5 minutes walk from the CBD, provides many recreational opportunities, not the least being The Skillion, a shear cliff face with an easy grass approach from the landward side which provides excellent views both north and south.

Terrigal has a long and interesting history starting with its first settler John Grey, who is reputed to have commenced a cattle run/dairy in 1826. Timber getting was an early industry for much of the Central Coast and Terrigal was no exception, with a sawmill established in the 1870's by Thomas Davis which even had its own tramway to transport the timber to a jetty in North Avoca for transportation to Sydney. Dairying was a vital industry to in Terrigal's early days until the late 19th century when tourism became dominant as transportation routes opened up the area to ready access.
